valentine’s day Wine Pairings
Perhaps you’re planning a Valentine’s Day celebration, Galentine’s drinks with the girls, or maybe you’re just toasting to the end of Dry January! In any case, check out some of the wines that we are loving lately!
St. Innocent Blanc de Blanc, 100% Chardonnay, McMinnville, Oregon
Celebrations call for bubbly, but we are all about sipping the fizzy stuff anytime, really. However, the St. Innocent Blanc de Blanc is definitely a special sipper. Made in the traditional method of Champagne, these bubbles will dance across your palate! There’s a hint of nuttiness to go along with the bright fruit. This would be a beautiful pairing for berries and cheese.
Thibault Liger “Les Charmes” Chardonnay: 100% Chardonnay, Burgundy, France
I recently debuted this stunner at an all-Chardonnay wine tasting, and it was hands-down the favorite among the guests. It’s got slightly creamy mouthfeel without being over powering. Notes of lemon curd brighten it up, and complement the toasted almond flavors beautifully. Pair this with seafood, poultry, or roasted vegetables.
La Spinetta Il Rosé di Casanova: 50% Sangiovese, 50% Prugnolo Gentile, Tuscany, Italy
Rosé isn’t just for summertime! It’s a pleasure to drink year-round, and pairs well with a variety of foods. Of course the pink color naturally lends itself to Valentine’s Day celebrating, but honestly, drink this lovely bottle whenever you feel like it!
Starmont Pinot Noir: 100% Pinot Noir, Carneros, California
Pinot Noir is great for pairing with food, and just might be the perfect match for your Valentine’s meal. It’s light enough to go with a dish like salmon, but can be lovely alongside a steak, too. This California Pinot is on the juicier side, with hints of green tea alongside the typical cherry and strawberry notes.
Martinet Bru Priorat: 28% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 23% Carinena, 16% Merlot, 7% Cabernet , Priorat, Spain
If you love a big juicy Napa Cab, but are looking to expand your horizons, give Priorat a try! Honestly, this is my go-to order in a steakhouse. It’s a big, punchy wine that pairs beautifully with red meat. It’s also gorgeous to sip on a chilly night in front of a fire. Let it open up a bit before you drink for optimum enjoyment. Pro tip: Order this the next time you’re at a fancy steakhouse, and the sommelier will know they are dealing with a wine pro!
