After a summer spent wine tasting in Argentina, I decided to follow my passion and transition from my career as a high school teacher into the wine business. I became a sommelier and went on to build and manage an award-winning bottle shop in Denver. Through my work in the alcohol industry, I found myself drawn more and more to the event aspect of the business, and I began planning festivals and tasting events throughout Denver. In 2018, I founded Salta Events.
The name Salta is meaningful to me because that is the name of the wine region in Argentina where I first decided to pursue my passion for wine, and ultimately change careers. Salta also means ‘to leap, jump” in Spanish, and as a former Spanish teacher, the language of making a leap into a new career was meaningful. Lastly, the notion of elevating not only myself to a new career, but also elevating each client’s experience is Salta’s mission.
I’m not just about fancy wine and cocktails, though. I’m originally from Wyoming, so I’m a country girl at heart. You can often find me in my cowboy boots, rocking out to my favorite country bands, a cold beer in my hand. I believe that a drink doesn’t have to be fancy to be good. It’s all about what you like to drink, the company you enjoy it with, and the way each experience makes you feel.
