Spruce Up Your Spritz

ACS_0006.JPG

There are just certain things that feel like summer-turning up that summer anthem on the radio, the smell of cut grass and burgers on the grill, and light, fizzy drinks that you can sip in the sun all day.  Summer is for spritzes!

A spritz is essentially a lower-alcohol combination of liqueur, bubbles, and soda water, but there’s really no wrong way to mix up a spritz.  We’ve compiled a few of our favorite ways to get your spritz on this summer!

Classic Aperol Spritz:

1.5 oz Aperol

2 oz prosecco

Splash of soda water

Build all ingredients in a glass over ice and garnish with a fresh orange wedge.

Fruity Spritz

Change up the Aperol with a fruit liqueur, such as raspberry or blackberry.  Instead of soda water, use a flavored water such as lemon or lime LaCroix or Fever Tree Sparkling lemon.

Savory Spritz

If you’re looking to use up those summer herbs, mix up a batch of simple syrup!  Simple syrup is just equal parts sugar and water, heated to combine.  To infuse all of that herbal goodness, simply remove the syrup from heat (but you still want it warm), and steep your choice of herb for about 30 minutes.  Then remove the herbs and strain the syrup.  Keep in fridge for about a week.  This works fabulously with rosemary, basil, and mint!

Build your savory spritz with about 1 oz of simple syrup, then top with bubbles and club soda.  Garnish with fresh herbs.  (add a dash of gin if you’re feeling a bit boozy!)

White Claw Spritz

Whether we want to admit it or not, everyone loves The Claw.  Top a fruity liqueur or even just fresh muddled or blended fruit with your favorite flavor of hard seltzer.

Fancy Spritz

Make any spritz a little fancier with fancy ice cubes.  Freeze fruit like fresh raspberries into ice cubes and add to your spritz.  Or if you want to be extra fancy, freeze edible flowers (available at stores like Whole Foods).
